Salted Cake - Bolo Salgado
Salted cakes are very popular in France, especially in buffet or parties. They are easy to prepare and easy to eat while standing in a crowd! The base recipe is very simple and you can get as creative as you want.
Ingredients
5 eggs
80 g butter
1,5 dl milk
250 g self- rising flour
125 g cheese
125 g ham or bacon
parsley
green pepper
pinch of sea salt
How to proceed
Preheat the oven at 180 ºC.
Sift the flour over a large bowl. Add the butter, milk and the eggs and mix well. Add salt and pepper.
Now add the other ingredients and incorporate them slowly. For example: cut the cheese, the ham and the bacon in a small cubes.
Butter a rectangular bread pan.
Pour the mix in the pan and place in the preheated oven at 180ºC for about 30 minutes, or until you can insert a knife blade in the center of the cake and take it dry.
